The Newbuild Homebuy Scheme
Bernicia are delighted to be able to offer a variety of new homes at Brunton Grange through the Government’s "Newbuild Homebuy” scheme.
Newbuild Homebuy aims to help people who cannot initially afford to buy a suitable home outright.
The scheme allows you to purchase a share of the property, initially between 30% and 90% (normally 50%). The share you purchase is usually funded by a mortgage which you will need to arrange with a bank or building society. The remaining share you do not own is rented from Bernicia.
In the future if you wish and can afford to do so, you can purchase further shares until you own the property outright. House prices can go up and down so you may pay more for buying additional shares.
When you purchase your home, Bernicia will grant you a lease for 99 years which sets out your rights and responsibilities.
The homes that Bernicia are offering are three and four bedroom homes and built on three stories. Some have garages and a study. Initial values of the homes are between £189,000 and £199,000 (this will be subject to regular valuations. The purchase price may go up or down).
They are all designed and constructed to the highest environmental standards which means that your new home could not only be kinder to the environment but
will be more efficient to run
Your Next Steps
Applicants must be in housing need and be unable to afford outright purchase. Priority will normally be given to existing public sector tenants, those on local authority or housing association waiting lists in priority housing needs and key public sector works.
